#buymackay
SILLY season is upon us and the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce are reminding Mackay residents and businesses to buy local this year.
The #BUYMACKAY campaign is one that the Mackay Chamber has gotten behind for the past few years as the organisation understands how important it is to keep money local and support our local businesses.
Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce President, Victoria Gracie said that when you support locally owned businesses, you’re not only supporting the local economy, but you are also supporting the employment of local people.
“For every $100 that is spent locally $68 will stay in the community, when we compare this to when you shop out of town only $43 will stay in our community.
“Not only is it important for businesses that consumers to shop locally, but this also contributes to our local schools and charities as it the local businesses that we go to for support when we need it, so we need to support them by shopping local,” Ms Gracie said.
Local businesses are invested in our community and are committed to helping the community’s welfare and progression.
Shopping local gives Mackay residents the customer service that they miss out on when buying offline, the experience of walking into a shop and being greeted by someone, who you may even know, and allowing that communication is something that online shopping will never be able to deliver said Ms Gracie.
The Mackay Chamber is urging you to swap your swap this Christmas and support our local business community.
