Chamber launches business bounce back strategy
WITH lockdown restrictions easing, the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce today launched a new #buymackay campaign, challenging the community to spend money with local businesses, rather than online.
Chamber President Victoria Gracie said the #buymackay campaign is about “putting your money where your heart is”.
“Buying from a local provider can be a highly rewarding experience,” Ms Gracie said.
“When you buy from a local business, you are keeping more money in the local community.
“It is the local businesses that are the first to provide prizes, donations or sponsorship of our local sports clubs, community groups and charities. They care about and invest back in our community – and collectively, are the largest employer of local people.”
Anyone can take part in the #buymackay challenge. Simply add a photo to your social media channel of choice with the #buymackay hashtag, and challenge three friends to do the same.
Amanda Camm said the resilience shown by the local business community was “inspiring”.
“We’ve seen many businesses brought to the brink by the COVID-19 lockdown, but they have shown that they haven’t given up.”
To support businesses in bouncing back from the immediate impacts of the coronavirus pandemic, Chamber have also launched a series of #buymackay events that are focused on leveraging the opportunities available.
“Mackay region businesses were wowed when we brought Amanda Stevens, Alison Hill and Chris Helder to town previously – because of their unique ability to tailor practical strategies and tools to suit our region.
“In the spirit of bouncing back, we are bringing these favourite guest speakers back for a series of #buymackay events. Each speaker will present on their go-to topic, which will be followed by a Chamber-facilitated discussion that anyone can participate in.
“These discussions will provide a region-first open forum for business professionals to further dive into and dissect the speaker content, and how it can be applied to their own businesses.”
